The novel carries echoes of Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, and House of the Dragon, blending elements of magical education, ruthless competition, and dragon-bound warfare. And yet, despite these familiar influences, Rebecca Yarros creates a world that feels vivid and original, full of imagination, political intrigue, and unexpected twists. The stakes are constantly rising, and the narrative never allows the reader to feel safe for long.
My favorite moments are undoubtedly the scenes with the dragons. Every one of their appearances feels powerful and awe-inspiring. They are not just creatures, but ancient, intelligent beings with presence and personality. Each encounter pulls you deeper into the story, making you feel as if you can see them soaring overhead, hear their guttural growls, and watch them unleash fire that leaves nothing behind but smoke and ashes.
The dragons have awakened—and so has my hunger for more. Without hesitation, I continue my journey into the next book of the trilogy, eager to return to a world where survival is earned, bonds are forged in fire, and destiny rides on dragon wings.
